Esther & Ted
Esther and Ted Druckenmiller first joined the Trenton community in the early 2000's when Ted accepted engineering consulting work at the local ConAgra facility. They immediately fell in love with the area and the people they met in Trenton. After his work was completed, Ted and Esther made the choice to make Trenton their home and vowed to serve their new community in whatever way they could. When they looked at the property at 113 Country Club Place, they knew they had found their permanent home and made the move from New Jersey. Both immersed themselves in community activities and in using their own talents to make Trenton a better place to live. Ted was instrumental in helping with the restoration of the William P. Thomson House. Originally constructed as a residence c. 1834, the Thomson House is the oldest building in Grundy County. Ted used his engineering know-how and dedicated many hours to the project, recognizing the importance of honoring the history of the area. Both he and Esther were very involved in Trenton's Sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) celebration in the summer of 2018. The celebration included several events, including a parade, fireworks, a historical play, and a concert. It proved to be a significant celebration for Trenton residents and those who visited from various states. Ted also had a fun side to his love for history. He discovered and delivered several items to the local historical museum, including an outhouse and a windmill! Ted and Esther also helped beautify their hometown: helping get lighted welcome signs put in place and volunteering as members of the local Master Gardeners Club, planting, weeding, and watering plants in many public areas of Trenton. Esther, a self-taught artist, was always happy to share her talents wherever needed. She painted the houses and pets of local residents, often for free, and drew pictures of the courthouse for the town. Born with a love of socializing she also helped out with Meals on Wheels and both were very involved in their church. Ted passed away in 2019 and Esther continued to be involved in the community until her own health issues prevented her from doing so. In October of 2024, she moved out of her beloved home to an assisted living, and then nursing home residence, where she resides now. The family will use all proceeds from the sale to support Esther's care and hope buyers will find meaning in these items just as Ted and Esther did.
